Page 1 of 8 When it comes to putting off retirement, more people are skipping retirement and working into their 70s, 80s and even 90s. Most remain on the job not for the money, but for the personal satisfaction.
Once again Catalyst Magazine is recognizing those in their golden years who continue to make a contribution to the local business community. Our annual 7 over 70 awards honor persons 70 years and older who have remained active in their careers well past traditional retirement age.
We asked our readers who they look to for inspiration in the world of work. Their responses ranged from corporate officers to sales people. None of them, it seemed, were looked at as being more successful than the other. What earned them special recognition was their commitment and love for their job.
As you read their stories, take a moment to consider where you are in your career and where you'll be when you're their age. Before you decide whether to clock in or clock out, take heart in their journeys. All of them are redefining retirement and proving, as author Pearl S. Buck was quoted as saying, that “To find joy in work is to discover the fountain of youth.”
